Georgia : Administration

Georgia is ranked 9th among the 50 states in United States and is located in the southeastern region of United States. Georgia was the 4th state admitted to the union of United States. Georgia’s government is based on the separation of legislation, executive and judicial power. Georgia’s executive authority rests with the governor in the state. The Governor and lieutenant governor are elected by on separate ballots for four-year term. Most of the executive officers in Georgia are elected by the citizens of Georgia instead of the governor. Legislative authority of Georgia resides in the general Assembly, composed of 56 Senate members while the House of Representatives comprises of 180 members. The term of the Senators and House of Representatives is of two years. State judicial authority rests with the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of Georgia having a statewide authority. Justices of the Supreme Court and judges of Court of Appeal are elected by statewide citizens in non-partisan election for six-year term. Judges for smaller court are elected by the state’s citizens who live within the court’s jurisdiction to four year term.
