Georgia - An Introduction


Georgia is the largest state east of Mississippi River and ranks 21st in size covering a total area of 58,910 sq mi (152,576 sq km), Out of the total area of  58,910 sq mi, land comprises 58,056 sq mi (150,365 sq km) and inland water 854 sq mi (2,211 sq km).

Georgia is bounded on the North by Tennessee and North Carolina; on the East by South Carolina and by the Atlantic Ocean; on the South by Florida and on the West by Alabama.. The state's geographic center is located in Twiggs County, 18 mi (29 km) SW of Macon.
